We tried to do day support differently. First of all, there is no program. Clients have autonomy to decide what they want to do under the guidance of staff with a light touch. The focus is one of innovation of day support by providing truly engaging activities for clients who want more than the traditional day centre model. We also close at 4:30 p.m. and not a minute earlier. This means our clients get a really full-day experience. We make sure that the end of the days nuts sudden by giving a 10-minute wind down warning at 4:20 p.m. also, unlike many other day centres, we have a drop-in arrangement because many clients, especially those on the autism spectrum, cannot predict what they're going to feel like from day to day or even hour to hour!
